What do you mean by a "new approach" in the war against Pornography?

There are a whole host of bills and other legislation proposed throughout the country to fight pornography. There are many excellent groups that provide information about pornography. Our focus however is a bit different. The main goal of the Lighted Candle Society is to help bring civil litigation against producers and distributors of pornography. Think of it like a tobacco-like lawsuit against the porn industry. Nobody else in the country is doing this type of thing and we think it will have an enormous impact.

 

To date, criminal attorneys have been wholly unsuccessful in stemming the tide of the porn industry. Occasionally, they help shut down a few brothels and SOBs (sexually-oriented businesses) but the real impact will come when we can take the fight to the source of pornography! We are determined to do this.

Why hasn't anyone tried this before?

What we are trying to do at the Lighted Candle Society is high risk, high cost and long term which is why no one else has ventured to take it on. But if we are successful the effect will also be lasting and powerful.
